Stay tuned for details on for new date!
The ElectionTech Startup Weekend brings together data scientists, developers, designers, policy wonks, politicos, and those passionate about civic tech.
We’ll work on real projects that have an actual impact. It's time to bring innovation to the tools that make democracy work for everyone.
Challenges and tools are being provided by experts in the space to make sure your impact is felt, not just in San Francisco, but around the country.
More than a weekend hackathon, this is civic tech at its best. Building a community to move make election technology innovative, secure, and accessible to all.
We have created a FAQ page with all the information you will need as attendees to make the event a success, including parking, accessibility information, and more. Please don't hesitate to reach out with additional questions.
Location & Transit
UC Hastings is conveniently located in San Francisco's Civic Center, just blocks from the Civic Center BART and Muni Station. All sessions be in the building located at 198 McAllister Street. UC Hastings' parking garage is located around the corner at 376 Larkin Street.
Once you check in, please make sure you wear your badge at all times. Building security will not permit you to move about the space without one. If you lose your badge, contact the registration desk to get a new one.
Accessibility, health, happiness and safety
Please email Denise at email@example.com if you have any accessibility, parental or other health or happiness needs. We do have a wellness room on site that Denise is happy to arrange access to. As we are on an urban campus, please do not prop doors open.
A green event
Please be advised that UC Hasting aims to keep the campus clean and as green as possible. Please bring a reusable water bottle and take advantage of the numerous water fountains and refilling stations available. Use recycling and compost bins when appropriate.
How large is the venue? How much time do we have between sessions?
We are the first and second floors of the 198 McAllister building. Everything is fairly close together, and you have ten minutes in between sessions. (We know how much work happens in the halls!) There are elevators and stairs.
Is there wireless?
This is San Francisco, you have to ask? Of course there is.
The UC Hastings network is available building wide and is quite reliable. Please do note that it is an open network.
What if I need something printed?
If you need to have materials run at the event, the Hastings Business Center can process requests for handouts and other simple printing needs quite quickly and is just across the street in 200 McAllister Street building. Orders can be dropped off in person or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note: they will require the creation of an account and a credit card for all orders.
What about meals and snacks?
We will have pastries and coffee in the mornings, and provide lunch and afternoon snacks and coffee. There are also vending machines on site for snacks and sodas. If you need a coffee pick-me-up, the legendary Philz coffee is around the corner (expect a few minute wait.) Please do your best to help keep UC Hastings clean and tidy and make sure you don't leave trash behind!
What else should I bring?
Many of our workshops and case studies, including the data trainings by our sponsor, Tableau Foundation and the Center for Technology and Civic Life, have interactive tools, so be sure to bring your laptop. UC Hastings has wireless throughout the building that you can connect to. If you're sharing from the event, use the hashtag #electiontech.
